About Mallorca:
Mallorca, a Spanish island located on the Mediterranean sea, is known as "The Island of the Calm." We chose a boutique traditional hotel in the small town of Fornalutx for the wedding ceremony. Fornalutx is a mountainous village on the west coast of Mallorca made up of stone buildings and narrow pathways that is home to about 470 inhabitants. It has a church, main square, old tower and beautiful views. During our wedding trip, we also plan to explore local beaches and towns as a group, especially our favorite village called Deia. One of our favorite Gypset travel writers detailed Deia's far out history as follows:
"By the 1960's Deia was a sort of Haight-Ashbury for expat creatives. Ibiza, about eighty miles away, was the more obvious and publicized choice for the hedonistic hippie looking for a party, but Deia became a shrine for a full spectrum of more sensitive souls: literary types scribbling into dog-eared notebooks; musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Kevin Ayers, and Jimmy Page; easel-toting artists perfecting the psychedelic-surrealist look; earthy fashion models; and trust-fund aristocrats desperately trying to write their masterpiece. Impromptu jam sessions involving flutes, flamenco guitars, and fezzes were the norm and afternoons were routinely spent - as they are today - in nudist swimming calas off the lapping Mediterranean Sea."
